About RIPEMD-128 Hash Generator
RIPEMD-128 was designed in 1996 as a direct replacement for MD4 and MD5, producing a 128-bit (32 hex character) digest. While stronger than MD5, RIPEMD-128 has been found to have weaknesses in reduced-round variants and is no longer recommended for new security applications. It is provided here for legacy compatibility and educational purposes.
RIPEMD-128 vs RIPEMD-160
RIPEMD-160 was developed alongside RIPEMD-128 specifically to provide greater security. RIPEMD-160 uses five rounds of processing (vs four for RIPEMD-128) and produces a larger 160-bit output, significantly improving collision resistance. For any practical use, prefer RIPEMD-160 over RIPEMD-128.
